I was an Assistant Director in the Sustainability & Climate Change consulting team at PwC for 12 years. I have worked for many companies with leading edge sustainability programmes, and been involved in many world firsts and award winning initiatives.
The story of my career over the past 12 years is best told through the work I have done for the amazing clients I have worked with during this period. Here are some examples:
UNILEVER: developed the approach for the assurance of the Sustainable Living Plan
I worked with the PwC team to develop an approach to assurance for the Sustainable Living Plan. This was one of the first ISAE 3000 assurances over the scope 3 or value chain environmental impacts.
KERING: developed the methods and tools to carry out the E P&L
I led the team that expanded the E P&L from PUMA to the rest of the Kering portfolio including Gucci, Saint Laurent and Bottega Veneta. I developed methods to measure the environmental impacts and developed the technology for Kering to analyse the results and repeat the analysis year on year.
SAINSBURY'S: created the plan for investment in energy efficiency and renewable energy
I helped to create the greenhouse gas emissions forecast, regulatory costs and reduction programmes with the property team for this supermarket. Sainsburys recently announced that as a result of this work they invested £260 million in these measures and reduced emissions by 35%.
SAINSBURY'S: developed a new approach to Modern Slavery risk assessment
I worked with the team at Sainsbury’s to develop an approach to assess risks across the whole of the Sainsbury’s business. This involved a new approach to identifying product and sector risks, and the technology to apply this across the entire Sainsbury’s supply chain.
EUROPEAN UNION: assessed the value of environmental modelling by Copernicus satellites
I led the team that assessed the impact of better environmental modelling on the environment that will be delivered by the new satellites. This included, for example, better fighting of forest fires, improved monitoring of fisheries and predictive air pollution modelling.
CEMENT SUSTAINABILITY INITIATIVE / WBCSD: first sectoral guide for Scope 3 GHG emissions
I worked with this industry group to work out how to apply the GHG protocol to this sector and helped to assess the different methods that could be applied to the problem.
LEADING UK AUTO MANUFACTURER: created an E P&L for its entire range
I applied E P&L methods to the current and planned range at JLR comparing the impacts of battery, hybrid and conventional drive train technologies.
LEADING PRIVATE EQUITY HOUSES:
I was the technical expert that helped many of the worlds largest private equity funds to assess the impact of the Carbon Reduction Commitment in the UK and to comply with this regulation.
GLOBAL BANK: climate risk for thermal generation project
I built the model to assess the risks from investment in thermal generation in an emerging economy to help to determine the transition risk for this investment.
LEADING EUROPEAN DRINKS COMPANY: tool for assessing plastic recycling
I helped this bottler with its performance against the plastics target in the World without Waste strategy. This involved detailed analysis of the recycling systems across its markets and using this work to assess performance against targets.
